Several exciting video projects are now under way, and some are very near completion. A wonderful discipleship series with Dr. Jack Park, "Jesus Revealed", is almost complete. Also, Pastor Yousef has begun a dynamic new series drawing out Spiritual Lessons From Stories About Technology. The idea is to examine key developments in the history of technology (such as the story of the man who first invented the telephone, but lost out in receiving credit for it), and then to let the principles underlying these stories drive us to biblical truths for living today.
Testimonies:
We would like to take time out to share a series of testimonies with you about people whose lives are eternally impacted by the daily proclamation and interaction offered on Radio Altareeq (The Way Radio). There are many lives which God has touched through the radio outreach, developing into ongoing relationships with our media team. It is for reaching and strengthening lives like these that we exist.
_ In one Arab country a young woman began to listen to our programing and started interacting with our team through our "live chat" format. She was raised in a local church where tragically an elder began to secretly and repeatedly abuse her sexually. Her own mother would not believe the horrible but true accusations her daughter brought her, punishing the daughter instead. For some time, a pattern of abuse and sexual violence became this woman's life--at the hands of both the elder and his son! Feeling rejected and worthless, she spiraled into a life of degradation, pornography, and self-exposure on the internet, consciously opening herself up to the Evil One. Until, she found something else, no, Someone else, on the internet. In part through the love and witness of Radio Altareeq she has come to faith in Jesus, has a new life and hope, and has begun to crawl out of the demonic dungeon in which she was trapped. Our team shares with, prays with, and guides her each week.
_ In another country, we have had contact with a woman married to a very hard, violent, and abusive husband. He isolates her, rejects her from their marital relationship, etc. This woman lived a life of desperation and considered suicide, seeking relief from her despair. Our Radio Altareeq team spent much time communicating the love of Jesus and telling her of her value in the eyes of the Father. Her husband had virtually cut her off from contact even with her own family, basically imprisoning her in her own home. She has now come to faith in Jesus and has within her the hope of glory. She sees light at the end of the tunnel and is even believing for her husband to turn to the Lord.
_ In an Islamic country, there was a conservative Islamic leader, a sheikh, who had been attracted to the word of Christ on Radio Altareeq and began listening secretly, using headphones so that even his wife would not know. His wife began to notice his interest in something he was listening to online, often staying up late for the programs. One night the sheikh had to leave his headphones behind and depart immediately for some reason, and his wife took the chance to find out what it was he was hearing. When he came back to the room, he was surprised and apprehensive to see her listening to "his" program on Radio Altareeq, but she told him, "This is really touching my heart! From now we will listen together."
On Radio Altareeq. we are not simply bringing abstract theology to our spiritually desperate region, but the living word of God. The programming is not simply a series of sermons (as good as that can be--we have them too!). Rather, through the Spirit, we apply the truth of the Word to sensitive life issues, family, sex, societal problems, youth, etc., bringing hope for the future. Radio Altareeq is able to reach regions, homes, and hearts that would otherwise be seemingly inaccessible to the Gospel. The word of God is not bound!
